International Home + Housewares Show 2010: Hoover

The International Home + Housewares show recently landed in Chicago. We were invited by Hoover to visit the show, where we had the opportunity to Hoover’s new products – with our readers, brides and grooms and those looking for great registry items in mind.

We narrowed down our favorite vacuums for you:

Have hard floors? Cleaning hard floors is easy with the FloorMate. We saw this vacuuming, washing and drying cleaning machine  in action and it was impressive. Spill something on your floor, it cleans (with solution and the great SpinScrub and grout brushes) it and dries it. Then all you do is empty the liquid.

For all pet lovers and pet owners, there is this great vacuum that comes with attachments for easy cleaning. So sweet and precious Fido and FiFi don’t have to worry anymore. :)

Some of you may be tight for space (and who couldn’t use more space in their closets?). For that we recommend this, which is cordless at that.

It was a great couple of days. We met the Hoover Reps and PR team as well as some other bloggers and internet media writers and enjoyed a great dinner at Chicago’s Hub 51, accommodations at Affinia Chicago and a nice little welcome gift–black Bearpaw slippers to wear indoors on our newly cleaned floors.

Real Simple Weddings 2010

I was so happy to receive a copy of the beautiful Real Simple Weddings 2010: “Your guide to planning a beautiful ( and stress-free) celebration” in the mail.

I am just going to go ahead and say: I LOVE Real Simple Weddings 2010! This third edition of Real Simple Weddings is brought to you by the editors of Real Simple and is pretty, practical + purposeful all in one.

To me, it is a 136 page book – magazine hybrid but with only the best of each: it has a lot of wedding planning content in an easy-to-read layout, but has a lot of content complemented by beautiful photos + inspiration (without all of those advertisements in between, which can put a damper on content).

What are some of the many things you can expect in Real Simple Weddings 2010?

- a planning calendar (+ pullout wedding planning guide)

- beautiful real weddings

- uber-creative invitations

- color inspiration

- flower information (because most flowers aren’t available year-round)

In other words, helpful information + beautiful ideas (+ everything in between) – a must for brides-to-be.  Now go out + get one. :)

What is your favorite part of the Real Simple Weddings 2010?

A Fun Save the Date Video, Detroit Style

Video save the dates are a great way  to show the couples’ personalities, show off the venues, you name it…but they are just SO fun to watch (+ and equally as fun to shoot + make)! I was so happy to receive this video from Dustin Johnston, who made this save the date video for his sister, Ashley, and her fiance Jonathan. What a cute couple! With a happy + entertaining save the date video like this, how could you possibly miss the wedding fun?

What I like this week…

Work has been busy [+ stressful] these past few weeks, but this week in particular…wheww-y! So I haven’t had much down time to compile a complete list of what I like this week…but here are a few.

Have you seen this lovely cake from Cake!? Spotted via It’s a Jaime Thing.

I like these fabulous French Circus baby shower invitations from Hostess with the Mostess she is doing for Tisha Campbell Martin and Duane Martin, both of whom I had the pleasure of meeting a few times at various work events. Congrats to the lovely couple!

I like these artist designed desktop wallpapers on Kindred, a site started by Holly of Decor8 + Haus Maus, and Ez of Creature Comforts.

Snapshots: Laurie Peacock Photography

I came across these cool images on the Laurie Peacock Photography blog. Okay, so, the fuchsia dress is adorable, the green bags and the settings are awesome…and the lovely Caitlin in the photos is a trooper for braving the Chicago snow while still looking great and not frozen. Great images, Laurie.
