Traditional Meets Modern Chicago Wedding

Craig John sent over these images of a great Chicago wedding he photographed, which featured a traditional ceremony and a very chic and modern reception. The day started at the newer and ultra modern hotel The Wit, where the bride Lindsey got ready for her big day. The ceremony took place at St. Michael…another example of the gorgeous architecture and beauty of all historic Catholic Churches. What a nice ceremony location and lovely backdrop for photos! The reception was held at A New Leaf. I like the mix of traditional and modern that this wedding features. I also had a mainly traditional ceremony and a reception that skewed modern. I always love Church ceremonies. I also love the groom Mark’s choice of a grey suit and the floral arrangements and their stunning colors…and did I mention that cake?

A Garfield Park Conservatory Chicago Wedding

Heather Parker sent over these photos from a recent Chicago wedding she shot at the Garfield Park Conservatory. Check out the wonderful city architecture, Metra and greenery as the backdrop!

Some words from Heather…

“Just a few weeks before their wedding in Chicago, Stacey and Steve got a nice workout running the world’s oldest annual road race together: the Boston Marathon. We collaborated on a time line for the wedding day, making sure to allocate time for creative photography around the city before their wedding ceremony began.

Stacey and Steve’s wedding was at Chicago’s beautiful Garfield Park Conservatory. It is a luxurious tropical paradise that is made up of a multi-room greenhouse that provides a lush setting that is fragrant, just like a resort in the islands. The event was catered by Jewell Events who also designed the cake. Their wedding ceremony was done by Ron Crowley-Koch, Chicago’s “married Catholic priest.”

A Vintage Warehouse Engagement Session in Chicago

This fun vintage-inspired engagement session was sent to us by Photographer Heather Parker. The engagement session took place at Architectural Artifacts, a large antique showroom (featuring other treasures as well!) in Chicago’s Ravenswood neighborhood. What a creative location for an engagement session / photo shoot. Very cool.

A Fun + Urban Engagement Session in Chicago

You know I like engagement sessions that show different sides to the couples’ personalities, so it is no wonder that I am a fan of this engagement session of Monica and Tomás by Miller + Miller. They rode bikes, posed with the city and the city lights as a backdrop and more…

As Miller + Miller stated:

“While discussing with Monica, their urban Chicago engagement session,she mentioned that they’d first love capturing a few softer photos at a nearby park where Tomás proposed and discussed incorporating their bikes in the engagement photos. Tomás said he can hardly live without his bike while living in Chicago – it’s a huge necessity even in the Winter months for him in getting around. After a bike through the park, we transitions M+T’s shoot’s focus into our popular high-fashion engagement photography style. We loved the intensity we captured of M+T, the day’s perfect sunset, urban locations, train tracks, graffiti wall and industrial looks, they all came together so well during this session.”

A Fun + Cool Houston Engagement Session

Today’s engagement session, which was sent to me by Nicole from Design Curiosities, is pretty cool + different. Shots of Steven + Nicole were taken at various locations throughout Houston, starting out at The Orange Show (the couple went their on their second date, too!). They were closed due to inclement weather; however, Table 4 Weddings , their photographers, were able to get some great shots outside!

After The Orange Show, they moved to a lot near it, where there was this trailer in the shape of a rocket…

Then it was onto The Daft Punk Mural…

Then it was onto Domy Books in Houston, where the couple spends time looking through the many books + vinyl toys they have.

A New York City Wedding at the Hudson Hotel

These wonderful photos of Michelle + Clay’s chic NYC wedding were sent to me by Gulnara Studio. Michelle + Clay’s ceremony + reception took place at the Hudson Hotel. Before the ceremony, the couple + the bridal party went to Times Square, which made for some great photo ops. The lovely floral arrangements were by Rachel Cho and the lovely cake was by April Reed (definitely a fan of the fuchsia hues…).

A Downtown LA Wedding at Cafe Pinot

Hello, there! It’s been about a week…so what happened? Well, the blog host started an unexpected migration this past week (which led to a couple subsequent problems), hence the delay in posts. This is the first in the blog goodies I am going to share with you in this fun little game of blog post catch-up. But without further adieu…

Today’s wedding is LA, baby. This downtown LA wedding of Sarah + Brad took place at Cafe Pinot and was shot by the great, talented LA photographer Adrienne Gunde. This wedding location definitely has the best of both worlds – a city skyline and nice architecture with city lights shining at night, as well as a lovely green garden in the center of it all, near a historic library (same place where my best friend and I would sometimes visit for research papers in college!). Do the blue + purple centerpieces + bridesmaid attire look great with that amazing blue sky or what?

An Industial Chic Chicago Area Engagement Session

What does Industrial Chic look like? Just look at this great Chicago area engagement session of Derek + Jorie fabulously shot by Miller + Miller.

“The burned-out run-down factory mirrored exactly Derek’s profession – he is a Fireman for Plainfield + Joliet – and it also provided a grungy mix of backdrops for some engagement photos. The softer location incorporated a bridge, creek, trees and open field providing a breathtaking, natural setting.”

It is so fun that the factory acted as a backdrop for their engagement photos + the firemen attire made an appearance in some photos as well. Once again, proof of how unique + special it is when a couple infuses their sessions with their interests or passions.

Industrial, meet chic…

These photos below created a secondary romantic and calm feel to the engagement session -don ‘t ya think?…

A Pink + Feather NYC Inspired Wedding – W Hotel New York

I am really enjoying the recent NYC engagements and weddings I have been receiving lately. Today’s wedding feature and recent photo book entry was sent by Ashley from Julia Newman Photography.

The wedding of Melissa + Ethan , which took place at the W Hotel New York, features hints of pink [without being too pink!] and soft feathers…and has New York City written all over it. Are these some great New York inspired photos or what?

A New York City – Work Inspired Engagement Session

Today’s engagement session was sent to me from Gina at Threshold Visions.

The engagement session of Emily + Walter, shot by Christopher Duggan, took place at The Bowery Hotel in New York City, the hotel where Walter bartends.

It is great when couples personalize their engagement sessions whether that is a specific location or an individual interest. This is another engagement session that has a nice romantic + urban/city vibe, aided by change in scenery + wardrobe change. And, I like the purple with that fab red couch!

Interesting fact: Christopher Duggan’s images of Bruce Springsteen were recently added to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s celebrated photography collection!
